Celebrating Collaboration: The Bureau Student Team and WIL Australia's Rebrand

WIL Australia is proud to unveil a bold new identity — a transformation from the Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN) to Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Australia.

This rebranding marks a significant milestone in our organisation’s evolution and the culmination of a deeply collaborative process. We are especially grateful to the talented student team from the Swinburne Design Bureau — Tyler, Charlotte, Elena, and Charlie — for their pivotal role in helping bring our new brand to life.

A collaborative journey

Over the past two years, WIL Australia engaged in extensive consultation with members, industry, government, and student stakeholders. The rebranding journey included expert guidance from branding consultant Therese Tarlinton, a collaborative website redesign with Tektonic Labs, and a dynamic, creative partnership with the Bureau student team.

Student-led creativity

The Bureau students brought fresh energy, professionalism, and design excellence to the project, helping us realise our new logo and visual identity while also gaining invaluable real-world experience through their Bureau WIL placement.

The students’ work exemplifies the transformative power of work-integrated learning in action.

From initial concepts to final delivery, the students approached the task in a highly professional manner – demonstrating creativity, confidence, and commitment under the leadership of Alex Tyers, the Senior Designer, Art Director, and Director of the Bureau. Their contributions have left a lasting and highly positive mark on our organisation and its future, for which the Board is very grateful.

I also acknowledge and extend heartfelt thanks to all involved in our rebranding, particularly our dedicated ACEN and WIL Australia volunteers – including our Directors, Committee members, Chapter Chairs, and Corporate Services Support – without whom this journey would not have been possible.

Together, we have shaped a brand that honours the ACEN legacy while embracing the future of WIL in Australia.

We are proud to move forward with our renewed identity – a contemporary presentation of our continued mission and national leadership in quality and inclusive work-integrated learning.
