Professional Learning Event: Global Mobility Panel

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an Australian Government initiative that supports undergraduate students to undertake study, internships, and language training in the Indo-Pacific region. Applications for the 2025 NCP Scholarship and Mobility Program open in August. This session will provide an overview of the program, insights from past participants, and practical guidance on how staff and students can engage with upcoming opportunities. Josh is Director of the New Colombo Plan Secretariat. He has served overseas in Austria and the Philippines and has previously worked across a range of areas in DFAT including the Office of the Pacific, Office of Southeast Asia, and on multilateral human rights issues. Prior to DFAT, he worked at the Department of Climate Change and has worked for the Minister for Climate Change and the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the ANU.

Eliza Wilton is an international education professional experienced in learning abroad program management, student life, and university partnerships across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. She is currently the University Partnerships Manager at Challenges Abroad Australia, working with universities to design and deliver programs that connect global citizenship, cultural immersion, and community development. Once a New Colombo Plan participant in Japan, Eliza now supports the development and delivery of New Colombo Plan-funded projects, working in collaboration with Faculty and WIL teams to align mobility programs with academic goals and community needs. She is passionate about building international experiences that are meaningful for both students and communities, while supporting institutional priorities around engagement, sustainability, and global impact.

Nathan Kench

Nathan Kench is a Transport Planner at Transport for NSW with over four years of experience delivering major infrastructure projects across New South Wales, including the M1 Motorway Extension to Raymond Terrace and strategic planning for Inland Rail. He graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2023 with a Bachelor of Construction Management. During his studies, Nathan participated in a sustainability-focused study tour of India through the New Colombo Plan program, where he led an interdisciplinary team of architecture and construction management students in designing a green strategy for Amity University's Noida campus. The experience deepened his interest in sustainable infrastructure and global planning practices.
