Wayne Read is a Senior Lecturer in Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Deputy Director of the Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin Business School, with more than a decade of experience in teaching, curriculum innovation, and employability-focused education. Since beginning his academic career in 2011, Wayne has taught across large undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts, with a strong focus on connecting theory to practice through authentic, industry-engaged learning experiences.

Wayne previously served as Academic Coordinator of WIL for Deakin Business School, where he led the redevelopment of the School’s WIL suite and helped develop scalable programs that provide authentic learning at scale, including contributions to the first-year unit MWL101 Professional Insight. He is also an active contributor to the national WIL community through leadership roles with WIL Australia and conference committees. His work has been recognised through multiple Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Awards and a 2025 AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
